Linux laptops are easy to treat as exceptions until nobody can answer basic questions about them.
I wrote about using Lynis as a local audit, then turning the output into small managed fields: scan age, hardening score, warnings, and owner/action.

@GoodTalkHQ_YT@DaStashY Literally never messed with any settings or proton in my more than a year of having a steam deck and have never had issues. For many you are speaking of theoretical concerns that will never materialize for many.
Yah it's usually cheaper to build yourself but also I don't need to bother when I can just get a Steam Machine and if I want to add RAM or storage later I can. I'm looking forward to it because right now I use a Steam Deck as my console machine on my 70" TV. This will be better for that role and I'll likely sell the Steam Deck. If I was still 20 years old and wanted to deal with assembling something myself maybe you'd sway me, but really there are so many other things I have to be doing.
Fedora 42 is EOL. If Linux laptops are in your fleet, the release number should be visible before a ticket proves it aged out.
I wrote about the practical checklist: support status, owner, upgrade target, firmware path, and exceptions.

@keychaine@washburnello@hagooomi Same. I'm for sure getting Steam Machine to become that instead of the Steam Deck and then likely I'll sell the Steam Deck to partially pay for Steam Machine.
That's gonna take a while around here. It's a good goal but there are some edge cases like I'm a firefighter and have to be able to get to the firehouse in a couple of minutes using emergency lights. I do hope there is a future where I don't need to have a truck and a car here but it's probably not viable for a while.

As teams from around the world take the global stage this summer, we’re reminded what’s possible when people with different perspectives work toward a shared goal.
At FileWave, we see that every day.
One team. Many countries. Shared purpose.

Defender for Endpoint EDR sensor updates are moving through Microsoft Update with KB5005292.
A Windows device can look patched while the sensor still needs attention.
The checks I'd add before this reaches more fleets:

Apple 27 may refuse some MDM/UEM connections if the TLS path is not ATS-compliant.
Confirm your vendor is ready, then check proxies, TLS inspection, load balancers, custom domains, certs, and app URLs.

Want a sedan? Model 3. Want an SUV then Model Y. Want a truck? Cybertruck. Then within those there is the low end and higher end where the lowest end might be just RWD instead of AWD. Figure out if you want 3, Y or CT and then figure out your budget and a model will hopefully align. If nothing does then look at the used market but still 3/Y/CT first is key.
Microsoft’s July 13 Office certificate deadline is not a data-loss scare. It is an inventory problem.
Old Office apps, unsupported macOS/iPadOS versions, and stale check-ins hurt admins.
