@eebendeeben@facetedcarapace "Vast majority" do you think climate change means there's going to be a single apocalyptic event that vaporizes the majority of humanity? Would make things easier, but no we'll still have to live, just in worse conditions
@Cfbhomer5274@MattBrownEP as we all know, a pro growth at all costs philosophy has never had any negative effects on anything, ever. If the line on a chart goes up, that is Good
@bomani_jones@SherwoodStrauss Sort of related but I like the NFL rule about not wearing any “special” uniforms in the playoffs. Prevents iconic moments being preserved in corny of-the-moment fashion (See 2016 Finals). For all their faults there’s a league that understands the power of image
@mcsquared34 had a job with bare minimum required pto for sick days. People came in sneezing constantly until one week where half the office was out. boss calls a big meeting raging “people don’t all get sick at once!” Took everything in my power not to shout “that’s exactly how it works”
@footyindustryAU Soccer or any other sport will certainly not 'overtake' footy in Melbourne in any of our lifetimes, that doesn't mean other entertainment options don't eat at the margins. Particularly since footy doesn't have a totally national (much less int'l) market to fall back on
@footyindustryAU I'm not particularly conspiracy minded but the idea that a dominant entity (in any field) would only move to kneecap competition when they are in danger of being overtaken is naive I think
@NataTheScribe@DragonflyJonez yeah are people arguing ""music" vs "sports" or two specific individuals in those fields. Music is indisputably bigger but there are still only a handful of musicians that are globally famous
