I gradually build in intensity, dynamic and tempo as I go so that the energetic main tune doesn’t come as such a shock!
This tune works so well in this setting, but I have also used it in concerts and on hospitals wards, so it’s super flexible!

Improvising round a tune the wonderful @CelloVirr taught me called Niffy Maggot (!).
I often use this improv structure when playing to children with complex needs, because they need more time to process sound.

You’ll notice I start with a lot of space, and I often go back to the same note, which is really important to help with the processing of sound when working in a PMLD (profound and multiple learning disability) setting.
