@OnlyJome Community is hungry for free loot, not PvE. A rat race to loot a room you had a key for, a mob you downed or getting lure grenades thrown at you for a 5 min afk/game crash is not hungry for PvE. This was not the exception, it was the majority.
Bad test. If this mode would have been available from the start, the community may have supported it differently. As it stood during the test, without adjusting incentives, societal norms will play out. You and many others may not want to hear this, but the only way to stop a bad raider with a gun, is with another gun. That is exactly what we say in the test. Compared to "friendly pvp lobbies", the pve lobbies contained the most toxic, exploit leaning, non-cooperative and deranged players my wife and I ever experienced. Where pvp lobbies with ABMM leaning good cooperative game play, raiders will help you kill a rocketeer and politely ask (of course none of this is 100%, just statistical observations) for shared loot. in PvE mode, nearly ever encounter, emperor key, downed matriarch lead to the encountering of the greediest, soul sucking and lifeless "fellow raiders" we've ever met. They were all NPC's or toxic.
The system needs to be better thought out. Other MMO's could be studied such as "tagging" mobs/arc up to a certain size/level. Allow pvp lobbies to support "in-round" grouping of up to 3 players. Scrappy picks up large boss loot. Locked rooms are "tagged" by the person who has the key to disallow "roaches" to leach off your "keyed room". There needs to be severe social barriers to roach off someone else's loot, tagged mob or otherwise take advantage of the PvE instead of "support" other raiders through PvE.
I could be wrong, but I think the PvE crowd wanted "co-op" game play with spontaneous encounters of other raiders without the stress of worrying about rats. This was not it. At all. The vast majority used it simply as an easy farm or loot grab. Please re-test with social barriers reconsidered. You don't need to police it all. Just designed with the intent of "spontaneous order" where there are just enough rules in play to allow others to "want" to help others out. Otherwise, you'll see a worse society than we see in IRL.
@Maltyversee@DutchButters Her yo, real question: I have the BP, but I find the materials are very rare to find now on the two redirection events I've done. Is the you too or an I just getting bad RNG?
@BishopWeyl Ah so let me get this straight, we can gender swap and put gender benders in the game, can't cat call /whistle. That's crossing the line? ... Okay
@IfindRetards I know these companies at some point have to pick their head out of the sand and see what the opportunity cost is of culture war game design. At some point, someone is going to decide if this is a hill worth dying on.
Here's my problem, and I will be submitting a ticket. The main argument is the rating. Everything that has been done regarding the social policing and name changes can be seen as barely palatable when you remember this is a "teen" game. I wouldn't take my teenager to see Biggus Dickus, no matter how hilarious that is. It may be a bit morally conservative. I understand he likely has a social environment where that is hilarious, but I get it from a "managing the household" point of view.
There is an entirely different reason I don't want my young adults groomed into the soft acceptance of sexuality preferences. I respect your freedom to choose. And this is the ticket: respect my freedom to not have sexually oriented content in my "Teen+" rated game.
Or: change it to MA and do whatever the heck you want, but allow any edgy name the right or left can dream up.
@Grummz It would be pie in the sky if they actually acknowledged something this week. Just a nod to the heavy handed and a measured approach in the future (vs "nothing to see here, nothing has ever changed, we were always on the right side of morality").
It's too just to ask...
