@teachergrind The elementary school I teach at, the day is 7:25-3:20. Teachers start duty at 7:00 and finish around 4:00 once all students are picked up. Our day is so long, aides and subs can’t even clock in until 20 minutes after school has begun 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Our district often gives directives for the whole district, often with the high school in mind, and doesn’t listen when we explain that these things don’t work for elementary kids. When I bring my concerns to campus admin, they understand but won’t do anything to change it

@WTBOTTCast Which is a problem because subs and support staff can only work 8 hours, so there are gaps where students are left unattended, unless teachers step in and take care of them (that is, in the unlikely case that we have subs and don’t have to split classes)

@WTBOTTCast Our elementary school starts at 7:25, so teachers report at 7:00 when we open the doors. But we don’t get a break at the end of the day, we still teach until the 3:20 bell and are on duty until all kids are gone (usually about 3:45).
