A message to Americans... 250 years from now.

A 900-pound time capsule packed with items from all 50 states has officially been sealed ahead of America's 250th birthday.
The capsule, created by the nonpartisan America250 commission, will be buried in Philadelphia on July 4, 2026, and isn't scheduled to be opened until the year 2276.

After years of planning, engineers say the moment the lid was finally sealed was both surreal and emotional, as part of many celebrations for the a special independence day.
