@brent_bellamy And to think all of this and more in Millennium Park was once a rail yard! An amazing investment in public space by a municipality that could have just decided to leave it be.
Stopped for a quick coffee in Downtown #ldnont Doing some work while sitting on the @FanshaweCollege restaurant patio on Dundas Street - soaking up some sunshine and live music that’s being played in Market Lane. Great to be back!!
Opportunity knocks! Hamilton is on the cutting edge of mid-sized city planning. LRT is coming, urban regeneration is everywhere, and there’s a strong push for creating a great city through urban design. Here’s a chance to be part of some truly inspiring city building.
Congratulations @westernprof Great to see your excellence recognized. Love how you bring your academic talents, your research and your students to the world around you to make a meaningful difference. Kudos!
So honoured to receive the 2022 Award for Scholarly Distinction in Geography today from @CanGeographers. Humbled to be recognized alongside some of the all-time greats in #geography! Thanks to my great @thehealab team & academic+community collaborators @WesternU@westernuGeoEnv
@JasonThorne_RPP@cityofhamilton True. And I appreciate your deflection to all those involved. But city building also requires leadership to set the culture and keep the ship moving in the right direction through lots of up’s and down’s.
@JasonThorne_RPP Outstanding Jason. Great city building moves that will bring lots of prosperity to @cityofhamilton for a long time. Kudos to you for your leadership and to your Council for taking lots of politically brave actions.
No parking minimums for non-residential land uses! Some really innovative, gutsy and meaningful moves being made at the @cityofkingston Canada. They’re showing lots of planning and climate leadership on Canada’s mid-sized city landscape.
BREAKING: Tonight the City of Kingston, Canada became one of the first medium/smaller cities that I’m aware of to get rid of PARKING MINIMUMS for all non-residential land uses, affordable housing & heritage projects city-wide, plus establish new parking MAXIMUMS across the city!
When in Germany, stop by the most remarkable former industrial-site turned park.
It's hard to capture how amazing Landschaftspark is. It's a former coal/steel mill that has been turned into a park where you can climb and explore the old industrial buildings/equipment.
@DruhFarrell Wow! I knew small engine motors were bad from an emissions perspective, but this is startling. Seems like a great place for companies like Home Depot to be showing their climate commitment and offer a deep trade-in discount for a new electric version. Possible win-win?
Seriously...what can cities do to address climate change? Hear real answers from practitioners, academics and the media. #ldnont 's recently-released Climate Emergency Action Plan will be a springboard for the broader conversation. Mar 31st @4pm

A BIG thank you goes out to @RBCPlaceLondon & @LondonFoodBank1 who provided 3 meals a day for 90 consecutive days for the #LdnOnt'ers at the City's winter response program. Large meals were prepped by @RBCPlaceLondon then cooked onsite & served family-style this year.
Thank You
Here's Mike Bloxam speaking with Mike Whelan - better known as Captain Compost. He's kind of a legend around the @LondonFoodBank1 , and a wonderful example of how volunteers are the heart of the operation.

Once again I need to thank @jmfplan and @SeanGalloway, along with Eric Lucic, from Halifax, for their thoughts on the missing middle as a potential #housing solution in this country. #CDNmuni#localgov
@Newswriter22@SeanGalloway Those were great days indeed Sean. @SeanGalloway was lots of fun to work with and has a brilliant mind. I’m looking forward to your article. You’re a talented writer with a knack for making complex material understandable and interesting. Cheers!
A large part of the Campus' surface is dedicated to parking for cars. Just imagine how beautiful and vibrant Western's Campus could be if you could transform some of these surfaces to new buildings, parks, outdoor spaces! @jmfplan
