No, Ms. Kimball. That is not true. The vast majority of women, even those in the depths of postpartum depression or psychosis do not murder their children.

They may become suicidal. They may feel hopeless or disconnected. They may beg for help and not get it. They do not strangle their babies.

Equating ordinary maternal suffering with the killing of three small children erases the children. Most mothers in crisis protect their kids or turn the violence inward. They do not do what Clancy did.

Compassion for mental illness does not require pretending every struggling mother is one bad night away from filicide. That is not solidarity. It is a distortion.

Monday, Aug. 31, was her first day back after five months of maternity leave. She was heading home through Times Square when Pamela Cisneros, 49, of Queens, pulled two kitchen knives out of a Target bag.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Cisneros first st*bbed a 68-year-old Rhode Island tourist in the abdomen as he waited to cross Seventh Avenue with his wife.

About 20 seconds later she walked up to Piacenti and st*bbed her in the stomach. A street vendor told the New York Times the attacker "didn't say nothing."

Piacenti was pronounced de*d at Bellevue. The tourist survived in stable condition.

Cops then spent four minutes ordering Cisneros to drop the knives. Tisch said she answered, "I'm not dropping anything. I would rather k*ll both of you." Then, "I will k*ll you."

Tasers failed. She advanced. Two officers sho*t her. She d*ed at the same hospital.

Piacenti's family said she and her husband Frank "were preparing to build a life together with their new daughter. That life changed incomprehensibly in an instant."

Cisneros had documented NYPD mental-health encounters in 2018 and 2019 and no arrest history, Tisch said. New York's Democrat machine keeps treating that profile as a reason to leave people on the street instead of a reason to lock the door.
