Preacher is at its best when the format is full of midrange decks, Workshops, etc. The last couple of years there have been a lot more opposing Savannah Lions and Argothian Pixies played, so Javelineers occupy the main deck currently, to combat more low to the ground strategies.
@lloydrage Have played 2 Forks before, but too situational usually. Winds only really good after a Draw7 or in desperation, so 6-7 Bolts can serve as removal and/or additional reach to close games out, and to help race against other Bolt decks (where Howling Mine can be a liability).
This was most recent version of 5C Dreams Combo I played in #OldSchoolMTG. Next build will have Lightning Bolts + Chain Lightnings main, in lieu of Black Vise + Winds of Change (Vises + Mirror can move to SB). Stronger opening hands that way probably, and Draw 7s become stronger.
"The first ability creates a delayed triggered ability that triggers at the beginning of your next upkeep," so general idea is you Karakas Hazezon/Stangg with CITP trigger on the stack, to prevent tokens from being paired with the Legend (so tokens don't die if Legend is killed).
Played Naya Bazaar 2025 at Kumite again this year, and had a blast, but couldn't defend the crown. Then played Naya Legendary Bounce in our Saturday Stew Slam Series recently. Hazezon Tamar comes in to play trigger on the stack, bounce with Karakas, profit. #OldSchoolMTG
Didn't get to play much #OldSchoolMTG in 2024, but the last time I did I was able to catch up with many friends from around the country, and go undefeated to win Kumite VI, playing Naya Bazaar Zoo. See you up in Jackson again this coming May.
Played this UWB Workshop deck at the 2024 Madison Offensive (EC #OldSchoolMTG 93-94) a few months ago. Didn't want anything that died to Chain Lightning, so no Juggernauts, but could have used a more aggressive stance. Full event report now on EC.

Went undefeated with 5C TaxRack Oath to win the #MiddleSchoolMarauders this month. Full coverage and photos here: https://t.co/uXQrHhszL9
#MiddleSchoolMTG
Was able to play in the Cream City Con 2023 #OldSchoolMTG event hosted by Lord Castleton, and catch up with some friends up in Milwaukee! I played an updated version of my Naya Bazaar Zoo deck to a 4-1 finish, good enough for 3rd place. Full coverage here: https://t.co/3Br4snpJYE
π¨ Bidenβs IRS Chief just admitted the IRS will add an *additional* 1,200 gun carrying agents in the next 5 years as a result of the $80 Billion Dems spent to ramp up audits.
"The best cantrip in Magic is the London Mulligan." - @emidln c.02-2023
You should always be mulliganing more than you think while the London Mulligan still exists.
I get so much pushback in YouTube comments for how much I mulligan.
The year is 2023 and London Mulligan exists. You should not be keeping mediocre Vintage hands.
Sure a mull to oblivion loss stings. But you will lose more games in the long run by keeping your low power hands.
2nd at this year's #BootleggersBall with Necro Dreams; Alpha to Alliances format (between #OldSchoolMTG 95 & 96). Full writeup by @MusicCityOS here: https://t.co/dLxDAl3Qkf
It was great seeing so many old familiar faces, and a few one ones as well. Thanks again for a great time!
@BcdLegacy@NickDetwiler@RolandMTG@BoshNRoll@rykerwilliams@tmdBrassMan Best practices:
1) PLENTY of advance notice of date/time/venue/prizes to set expectation and allow for planning (travel/schedule are main cost/challenges).
2) all event tickets non-refundable, going to cover venue/donate to charity. Oversell seats 5-10%; cancellations inevitable.
@BcdLegacy@NickDetwiler@RolandMTG@BoshNRoll@rykerwilliams@tmdBrassMan Going forward I will likely organize a large destination city weekend event annually (not piggybacking other events), and do a few other smaller events traveling to different areas where people would want to have an extended weekend vacation in parallel, for 24-64 people/per max.
