A White woman in Philadelphia is being hailed as a HERO after she saw a Black man se*ually assaulting a 63-year-old woman in BROAD daylight...

She then took pictures as he ran away so police could identify him.

And afterward? She went WITH the woman to report what happened. ❤️

Her name is Mary Martin.

On Monday afternoon, a 63-year-old woman visiting her son in Philadelphia was walking near 18th and Federal streets.

It was around 4:15 p.m. Restaurants were open. People were nearby.

Police say a man came up behind her, grabbed her, and groped her.

Mary saw what was happening.

She yelled at him.

The man tried to walk away, and Mary could see how upset the woman was.

So she used what she had in her hand.

A BIKE HELMET.

Mary says she struck him with it as she tried to keep him from leaving the scene.

Then she realized she was putting herself in danger.

She took pictures of him as he fled, handed them over to detectives, and returned to check on the woman.

But here's the part that got me...

Mary accompanied her to the Special Victims Unit to make a report.

Think about that.

This woman was in town visiting her son, then a man grabbed her on the street in the middle of the afternoon.

And someone cared enough to step in... and keep helping AFTER the man was gone.

Mary told local news: “We have to look out for each other.”

Police are still searching for the suspect, but we already know the name of the woman who stepped up.

Mary Martin.

She held her own head in place with one hand and kept her organs inside her body with the other. Then she started crawling.

On the night of December 18, 1994, twenty-seven-year-old Alison Botha did something completely ordinary. She dropped a friend off after a quiet evening together, then drove home to her apartment in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She parked her car and reached for her laundry bag. In that single, unremarkable moment, her life was torn apart.

A man with a knife forced his way into her car. Before she could react, she was trapped inside her own vehicle. He drove away and picked up a second man along the way. Together, they took her to a remote stretch of bushland, a place chosen because no one was likely to hear what was about to happen.

What they did to her that night is almost impossible to comprehend. She was raped and stabbed dozens of times in her abdomen. Her intestines were pulled from her body. Her throat was slashed repeatedly, cutting so deeply that her head nearly separated from her neck. Then they left her lying in the dirt, certain they had killed her.

They were wrong.

Alison Botha was still breathing.

Lying alone in the darkness, covered in her own blood and barely able to feel anything, she understood one thing with absolute clarity. If she did not move, she would die there, and nobody would ever know what had happened to her.

So she made a decision.

First, she needed to leave a record. Using her fingers, she scratched something into the sand beneath her. She wrote the names of her attackers. Then, underneath them, she wrote four words that would later break the hearts of everyone who heard them: "I love Mom."

Then she began to move.

What happened next is almost impossible to imagine. Her throat had been cut so deeply that her head would not stay upright and kept falling backward. Her intestines were still spilling from the wound in her stomach. She used one hand to hold her head forward and the other to keep her organs inside her body. With nothing left but the most basic instinct to stay alive, she crawled.

She collapsed, then forced herself up. She collapsed again. Her vision faded in and out. The pain was beyond anything a human body should have been able to endure and still allow a person to think clearly. Yet every time she fell, she somehow found a way to keep moving.

Eventually, she reached the road.

At 2:45 in the morning, a young veterinary student named Tiaan Eilerd was driving along that stretch of highway. Something appeared in his headlights, but at first he could not understand what he was seeing. Then he realized it was a woman. He thought she was already dead. Then she moved.

He stayed beside her, kept her conscious, and called for help. Later, he would say that something had placed him on that road at that exact moment for a reason.

At the hospital, the doctors were stunned. One surgeon said that in all his years of medical practice, he had never seen injuries that severe in a living patient. Alison was not expected to survive the surgery. She was not expected to survive the night. She was not expected to make it through the weeks that followed.

She survived all of it.

Even while lying in a hospital bed, unable to speak because of a tube in her throat, Alison did something remarkable. Police showed her photographs of possible suspects, and she identified her attackers by writing their names down. Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger were arrested. They pleaded guilty, and in August 1995, both were sentenced to life in prison.

But Alison did not wait for the courts to give her back her voice.

In a country where rape survivors were often expected to remain silent and carry shame that was never theirs to carry, Alison chose to speak. She became one of the first women in South Africa to publicly identify herself as a rape survivor and talk openly about what had been done to her.
