For a while now I have thought and said to people close to me that it’s just a matter of time before we start talking about how children are not fully human until they reach a certain age, making their murder not quite murder, pushing the line a little further, and then a little further still. The argument for a while has been that as long as they are “part of a woman’s body” then it’s her choice - but the dependence on her does not terminate after birth, and when so many women see children as an inconvenience at best, and an utter imposition at worst, what’s to prevent them from creating euphemisms and legal protections that force a public shift in morality. These demonstrations and displays of solidarity with a brutal murder are chilling, but I think they were absolutely predictable.

Matt Walsh, non-medical type people aren’t going to want to hear this but much of the “depression” after childbirth is due not so much to selfishness as it is to the abrupt, measurable collapse of estrogen and progesterone that rewires GABA signaling, dysregulates the HPA axis, and hits women with heightened sensitivity hardest. Sleep deprivation pours gasoline on it. Calling a documented endocrine event a character flaw is not tough-mindedness. It’s cargo-cult medicine and click bait engagement farming.

Periodic reminder that virtually every major elected official claims, or tries to claim, that they are an outsider, a rebel, a maverick taking on “the establishment.” The President, Vice President, and speaker of the House talk that way. So did Barack Obama. Ted Cruz. Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Jim Jordan do it, when their party is in power and out. When they are committee chairs or ranking members etc. Even partisan media does it. Everyone wants to be “the resistance” to some nebulous establishment no one claims membership in.

You can’t run a stable, serious, government when the people in power refuse to accept responsibility for being in power. None of them are “outsiders” taking on “elites.” They are all insiders and elites blaming other elites for their collective failure to do their jobs.

This has been all over my timeline today and frankly it’s difficult to look at. It fills me with so much disgust, and such overwhelming sorrow that I’ve been trying to scroll by. So many people are sharing stories and photos of their babies and it’s important to do this. Maybe one woman will see something and choose to keep her baby. It is not cliche to say this, it happens. I worked with an organization for a while that gave free ultrasounds to women who were considering abortion and the vast majority would change their minds when they saw their baby or heard her heartbeat. It makes me wonder if the women celebrating this have ever once sat with the truth of what they’re doing. Have they ever seen what happens to a child during an abortion? Have they ever considered the repercussions on a woman killing a child she’s carried nearly to term? Felt move and turn within her for months? I almost hope they have not because the alternative is worse: that they know precisely what they are doing and choose it anyway.

My youngest is 20 months and was born 3 weeks early. She was 5 lbs and so tiny I could cup her in my two hands, cradle her in the crook of my arm. She was so beautiful, so absolutely perfect. So dependent on me for life and love. I am not sure we can find anything more truly evil than a world that intentionally murders its most innocent and vulnerable and does so with a smile and a cheer. God help us.

There’s a reason the NBA isn’t called the MNBA.

It isn’t a men-only league. There’s no sex requirement to play in the NBA. Women aren’t barred from joining. There just hasn’t been one good enough to make a roster.

Which is exactly why we have a separate women’s league.

If biological men are eligible for that league too, it defeats the whole purpose of having a separate women’s league in the first place.
