WATCH: “We are not the enemy, sir. We have different morals. We have different values.”
Rep. Jason Crow—U.S. Army Vet—challenged Sec. Hegseth directly after he used language that blurs the line between our military and extremists.
Leadership matters. So does the tone it sets.
Some of y'all are missing the point on the Minnesota murderer, Vance Boelter, so I'm going to help you find it:
Yes, he happens to be a registered Republican, who murdered people while dressed as a cop, and had many other Democrats on his list of targets to murder.
But his political affiliation is LESS important than what he did.
If he was a registered Democrat who had killed Republicans and had a list of more Republican targets, his actions would be no less heinous.
Yes, we disagree on a wide swath of issues, including Social Security, healthcare, Medicaid, fascism, and whether it's a good idea to have a grifting, lying, sexual predator, convicted felon as a President, but we should ALL be able to agree that dressing as a cop and then murdering people is fucked up.
And you know what? You folks trying to spread misinformation that the murderer was a Democrat? You KNOW how fucked up this was, that's why you're trying to blame it on "the other team."
Just denounce the murderer, regardless of his political affiliation, and move along.
Monday night, .@jonstewart came out swinging on the reaction of this country to the Minnesota shootings, the despicable Mike Lee, and why it seems only to matter if immigrants do the murders in this country, but not the homegrown murderers. #DemsUnited
Sen. Mike Lee and the silence from his fellow Republicans made it clear: decency is in the rearview mirror.
After he mocked a political assassination via Tweet — Ed Shelleby, a senior staffer to Sen. Tina Smith, wrote to Lee’s top staffers. @Lawrence read it on-air, and honestly, everyone on both sides of the aisle need to hear it.
Democrats have been censured for far less.
