The journey really begins.
Arthur and Carol land in a sweltering, restless Cairo. The revolution is still fresh, the British are no longer welcome, and every shadow seems to have eyes.
Old secrets are stirring… and someone already knows they’re here.
The Erased continues with Episode 2. If you enjoyed the first episode, this one turns the tension all the way up.
As a reminder, we work full-time on the series, and we’re releasing all the episodes no matter what. But if you’ve enjoyed the journey, don’t hesitate to share it!
On the one hand, I agree that this is the only way to maintain consistent engagement. However, after posting several short videos, even though it’s 100 times more exciting, there’s a sense that you haven’t accomplished anything substantial. A good way to test this is to show a short video to someone outside the AI community, no one will be impressed. This happened to me with what I think is my best Twistlake Story, and the person didn’t say anything to me, but I could see in their expression, “Okay, so what?” I don’t know if I’m making sense, but that’s how I feel, at least.
There’s also a real AI fatigue going on. Honestly, I’ve been so busy lately that I don’t watch any short videos anymore, except for the creators I like (basically, you, Alterverse, Grindhouse, and Dr. Dreams).
@ChrisGwinnLA It’s miles away from what interests me, so I wouldn't have watched it anyway, but what a lack of judgement from such a young director. And that is just 48 hours after Scorsese announced he was working with BFL. Crazy timeline!
[The Erased Log]
We’re two weeks behind schedule with the release of episode 3, mainly because I spent almost a week writing and another week abroad on business.
But in the meantime, here’s a still from episode 3.
@deadsun_0 I’m not familiar with RunComfy, but when I used runpod, the combined cost of the pod’s initialization time and inference sometimes ended up being the same as, or even more expensive than using credits on a platform.
This is not important for giallo films as Italian cinema of the 60s-80s relied on filming without direct sound recording. The actors were often of various nationalities and could not understand one another. They were dubbed afterwards and that’s why there are often lip-sync issues, even in Italian!
@PottyBibProd I watched the first episode last night in black and white. I also watched a few scenes in color, the color grading is superb. They’ve added that slightly uncanny feel, in the style of Ted Turner’s colorized films.
Spider-Noir has just been released. I’m not usually interested in superhero films/series, but it looks like I’m going to make an exception here.
From what I’ve read online, the black-and-white version seems to be the ‘canonical’ one. The film was originally conceived for this version as they lit it for B&W, and even the production design was tailored to enhance the conversion.
Honestly, it doesn’t really matter anymore. Growing organically by several thousand followers like before is almost impossible. Even accounts pulling 2 million views on viral videos often gain very few followers from it.
What actually seems to work is getting retweeted multiple times by Elon Musk or other huge accounts, but then you mostly attract followers who aren’t really connected to your content. Since I’m not trying to monetize X, I’d rather have a smaller audience with genuine interest and great interactions than 10K followers with barely any.
And you probably noticed that a lot of accounts with 10K+ followers now have extremely low engagement rates anyway. It's super random so in the end, the content itself almost feels secondary...
