@MartynStevenso3@WilliamPh766@TurfCastPodcast In Atlanta, he spent $50m on our front 3 (unprecedented in MLS) over two transfer windows that ended up flopping so bad that we would’ve been relegated if we had pro/rel… he might do well again with a better structure but he absolutely ran my club into the ground. Good luck.
@tombogert What’s your take on how Lagerwey and now Henderson have gotten this project so wrong? These were two of the most lauded execs in MLS coming in but they’ve overseen a generational downfall since Covid. Not to mention this FO is still touting 30k attendance for spoon contenders..
@FelipeCar They’ve been below average to bad since ‘20, longer than they ever were good. This is exactly who they are & the lack of real accountability for the FO is what led us here in the first place. Garth saying we’ll be frustrated by how slow he moves is 1 of the biggest CYA in sports.
@DougRobersonAJC The only actual “icon” we’ve had is Josef and we all saw how this club treated him on his exit. Almiron and Guzan can only claim legend status at best, and Brad just barely gets over that line cause he’s been here pretty much the entire existence of the franchise.
@TaylorTwellman@ATLUTD Outside of Latte Lath & Almiron v2, it’s still the same Bocanegra roster building that’s struggled since ‘20. I’m laying most of the blame on Garth for not cleaning house day one and allowing that standard to continue on — 29 wins out of the last 100 matches mostly on his watch.
@DougRobersonAJC Maybe they should’ve fired Bocanegra for his roster building 2-3 years ago back when people started saying he was the problem instead of letting him keep running this into the ground. Now this team is an afterthought and can only brag about half empty stadiums being a “sell out”.
