It feels great to be working with teachers in person, again! Thank you, @Hall_Schools for inviting me to speak about engaging young people with reading and navigating slumps in reading motivation.
An effective system of interventions is built upon the assumption that even the most at-risk students are capable of learning at high levels, and that the educators can collectively achieve this outcome for every student. #atplc
Political leaders and educators alike will often define unity or peace as the presence of surface-level kindnesses, quiet and civility. But true unity and peace require justice, reconciliation and inclusion—a lesson young students are equipped to learn.

The amazing thing about "it might have been antifa" is that Trump literally summoned these people to DC, spoke at their event, offered to walk them over to the Capitol and then praised them afterward.
The U.S. Capitol was breached today for the first time since 1814, when the British attacked it and set it on fire during the war of 1812, according to the director of scholarship and operations with the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. How shameful.
When Trump won in 2016, his opponents responded by organizing the largest single-day protest in U.S. history.
When Trump lost in 2020, his supporters responded by violently storming the Capitol.
So you can take your “both sides” and shove them right up your rectum.
This is what domestic terrorism looks like.
This is Donald Trump’s America.
Imagine the police response if these were Black people BREAKING INTO the Capitol.
If you don’t see white supremacy and a total threat to democracy when you see this, it’s because you don’t want to.
What is unfolding is a horrifying, appalling, disgusting and shameful debacle. So sad and yet predictable. Also more embarrassing than anything imaginable.
Dear educators: 2020 has been one hell of a year. Of all government agencies, no entity handled the pandemic better than you! Now, take some time for yourself and your family. Job well done 👏🏾
How are you handling these uncertain times?
