why would you not want to pursue your potential relentlessly?
dying with your potential untapped makes no sense. donโt you want to see how far you can take this thing?
the craft punishes hesitation more than it punishes error. a wrong move made decisively can be corrected. a right move made tentatively poisons everything around it. this is true in writing, in fighting, in painting, in love. the flinch is the real enemy. the flinch is what tells the work you do not trust it, and the work, sensing the distrust, withdraws. better to be wrong with conviction than right with a tremor.
whatever you do, do not die with your music still in you. I donโt care what the music is. a practice. a craft. a discipline that would die if you stopped showing up to it. a way of being in a room that changes how the room feels. whatever your music is - the thing that makes you feel like yourself when youโre doing it - do not leave it inside you. the world is full of silent people whose music died with them. and the silence looks exactly like a normal life. thatโs how it gets away with it.
