@Adam_Karpiak Nobody knows how to answer "how's the search going" honestly. It's either you lie, overshare about 200 applications going nowhere, or just change the subject.
Referrals work, but they also create a system where the best candidate loses to the best-connected one.
The real fix is on the employer side to stop posting roles publicly if you're only going to hire referrals.
For candidates: yes, network. But also tailor every application ruthlessly. A targeted CV can beat a generic referral in many cases.
@yacineMTB This is the actual way to use data for career decisions. Understanding where your skills intersect with market demand beats sending 50 generic applications and hoping one sticks.
The advantage isn't volume, it's alignment.
@riyazmd774 A big part of the problem is that people are juggling too many tools — CVs, job boards, notes — so everything ends up generic.
When your workflow is fragmented, your applications are too.
@Simon_Ingari This also helps when you’re tracking applications later. Knowing exactly which version of your CV you sent to which company saves a lot of confusion before interviews.
@FirstSquawk This explains why so many job seekers feel like they're applying everywhere and hearing nothing back.
Many listings are either stale, already filled internally, or posted just to test the market.
@khushiirl We filter remote-only jobs, sort by the last 3 days so you're not competing with 2-week-old posts, and rank results against your CV to show what's worth applying to.
We also offer LaTeX CV tailoring, interview prep, and personalised job advice.
