“Black girls don’t misbehave more than white girls, yet in every state across the country they are more likely to be disciplined in school and often receive harsher penalties for the same infractions.” https://t.co/tTQioFL2k2
Today I told a student “I love how hard you work even when it’s hard”
He was SO proud and then he kept working and told his friends “you gotta work hard, guys! Mrs. Shier love that!”
Compliment their process not their final result!
Next time you want to say a child or parent “speaks little English” instead start with the assets: “He is fluent in Spanish (or name the language), and learning English.” #bilingualism#ELL#GATE#leadership#k12
@Anastas37787205 @TeachingChannel@EricHougan Thanks for sharing Anastasiya! I have watched videos from their channel before and they are a great resource!
@EricHougan@DrLarryRosen@pdkintl My biggest takeaway is how much time students spend distracted instead of focusing on studying. I’ve found myself guilty of this several times. An implication as a teacher is to use the technology that seriously distracts our students for enriching/engaging tasks. Use it for good
Don't spend all your time thinking about 'what' to teach your #students.
Instead, take some time to learn & think about 'who' you teach.
I can't help but think the more we know about 'who' we teach, the more effective we will be with 'what' we teach.
Major takeaway: there is a huge movement in education in using virtual reality for authentic real learning. I’m excited to implement this in my classroom to make ideas, concepts, people, and cultures more relatable and personal #EdTechCWU
