Last week, I had the opportunity to spend a night at Equator Campsite & Lodge in Kikorongo, Kasese, and it was a remarkable experience.
Beyond its unique location at the Equator crossing, what stood out most was the exceptional hospitality, attention to detail, and commitment to creating a welcoming environment for guests.
From the warm reception by the staff to the comfortable accommodation and delicious meals, every aspect of the experience reflected professionalism and care.
The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful sunrise and sunset views, and well-maintained facilities make it an ideal destination for travelers, nature lovers, content creators, and anyone seeking a refreshing getaway in Western Uganda.
Experiences like these remind us of the incredible tourism potential Uganda possesses and the important role that local hospitality businesses play in showcasing the beauty of our country.
A sincere thank you to the entire team at Equator Campsite & Lodge for making my stay memorable.
I look forward to visiting again. 🌝

Rwenzori Region Leaders Reaffirm Safety Ahead of @RwenzoriMarathn Marathon
#Kasese, Uganda – [June 19, 2026]
📍Members of Parliament from the Rwenzori Region today held a joint press conference to address concerns surrounding Ebola-related misinformation and its impact on tourism, particularly the upcoming Rwenzori Marathon.
📍The leaders, led by Hon. Benjamin Kabyanga Cardet (Bunyaruguru County), Hon. Sarah Ithungu Masereka (Kasese District Woman MP), and Hon. Mulindwa David Isimbwa (Busongora South), emphasized that Kasese District and the wider Rwenzori Region are #Ebola-free and safe for both local and international visitors.
📍They clarified that recently reported Ebola cases were imported from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and that no active cases exist in Kasese.
Additionally, cross-border movements have been strictly managed to ensure public safety.
📍Hon. Cardet highlighted the negative effects of misinformation on the tourism sector, noting that hotels, tour operators, and other stakeholders have suffered significant losses due to cancellations driven by fear and inaccurate reporting.
📍Hon. Mulindwa assured the public and international community that regional security is fully intact, with all relevant agencies working collaboratively to guarantee a safe and successful event for marathon participants and visitors.
📍Hon. Sarah Masereka called upon the Government not to cancel or halt any upcoming tourism events. Instead, she urged the @MinofHealthUG to work closely with event organizers and the public to implement safety measures that will ensure a secure and enjoyable #Rwenzori Marathon.
The leaders concluded by expressing strong support for the marathon’s organizer, @wekesa_amos , and reaffirmed the region’s commitment to delivering a successful event.
📍They also highlighted the marathon’s growing global appeal, noting that over 25 countries are already represented in the current registration statistics.
📍The Rwenzori Marathon continues to play a vital role in promoting Uganda’s tourism, boosting local economies, and showcasing the beauty and resilience of the Rwenzori Region.
Today I also joined hand in hand with the Kasese Influencers and Good Forests Foundation Uganda in cleaning Kasese Old Tax Park and planting trees and this engagement is part of the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon activation
