In PA, 35% of pregnant women, new moms, and their newborns rely on Medicaid for healthcare.
Grateful to meet with Drs. Bennett & Wilkerson with @acog
to discuss threats to healthcare access, improving women's health and ensuring wide availability of prenatal and postpartum care.
This afternoon, I had the honor of joining my friends at the @acog during their 43rd Annual Congressional Leadership Conference. These medical professionals are the backbone of maternal healthcare, and I will always stand with them in the fight to protect the lives of mothers and babies.
The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate among high-income nations. In 2021 alone, 1,205 mothers lost their lives to pregnancy-related causes—a crisis that demands urgent action.
We know research can uncover the root causes of this crisis and lead to real solutions. That’s why I’m fighting to advance maternal health research through the bipartisan NIH IMPROVE Act—permanently authorizing funding for IMPROVE and ensuring NIH has the resources needed to continue its vital work.
Our OB-GYNs are on the front lines of this fight every day, providing the care that keeps moms and babies healthy. I will always support them, push for the resources they need, and work to ensure they can continue delivering the highest standard of care.
Today, I joined hundreds of my ob-gyn colleagues on Capitol Hill to advocate for Medicaid, rural maternal health, and Medicare! #CLC2025#ObGynsInAction
