Backrooms hits a nerve because it’s so much more than a character study. It’s about the inhumanity of Generative AI, it’s about Hysterial Covid Claustrophobia and about the creepiness of living among the ruins of another age. It’s also just really funny. 9/10
coming from the perspective of a designer who sees AI visualization in practice, BACKROOMS captures very accurately how the more you generate an image prompt after prompt, certain features degrade until they are unrecognizable. it’s very true to real life applications

James Cameron, George Miller, David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott and more veteran filmmakers have sadly gave in to AI. It’s a bleak time for the industry and even more reason why younger filmmakers must break through to resist what the older generations have accepted as inevitable when it doesn’t need to be.
