I only recently realized that ¨desayuno" is a combination of "des" and "ayuno" ("undo" and "fast") just like in English. Sometimes new words reveal aspects of known words.

I just learned the Spanish word ¨vaivén¨ meaning ¨swaying¨ and it's satisfying when I can clearly see a word's history (coming from "va y ven" meaning "go and return".)
