Our results indicate a need for detailed documentation for seed sourcing and production for restoration, and the value spatial and temporal genomic monitoring may provide for our conservation and restoration material (11/11)
I am excited to share work by myself, @lioneldiSanto, Zach Tarble, @sunflower_bugs and senior author @jilla_hamilton testing for genomic divergence between wild sunflower populations and seed used for conservation and restoration. A thread! (1/11)

Surprisingly, ex situ populations have somewhat high coancestry, potentially caused by a large volume of seed from relatively few seed heads pointing towards the importance of diversity of maternal plants (10/11)
If you are stocking up at grocery stores during the #coronaviruspandemic, consider buying products that don't have "WIC" labels. Families on the #WIC program rely on these goods to feed their kids.
Also, don't be greedy when it comes to 🧻.
