@donwinslow I won't be able to read this book until pub date, but I do recall the tribulations of filming Black Rain, including having to build an entire fake Osaka on a Hollywood backlot. I wonder if 40 years on, the Japanese authorities are as inflexible as they were back then.
@danielholkss As believable as the thugs in "Death Wish," who searched around a subway car looking for an easy mark, and decided to go for ... Charles Bronson
@donwinslow I've always been VERY skeptical of the "Tommy Lee Jones improvised that line" story. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise if someone can show me the shooting script for that scene
@mikemovies A slog that should have been a lot better. I was confused by it at first, but once I was able to follow its convoluted plot, I was even less impressed
@ATRightMovies I would have to say "2001," because if I saw it at the Capitol on opening day, I would have seen the additional 17 minutes that Kubrick edited out a few days after its premiere. Whether they were good, bad or indifferent, those 17 minutes are gone forever
@sarahjaeleiber a word to the wise, Sarah. I dutifully kept every playbill and program w/o thinking of what that would mean decades hence. A bigger box? How about half the space in my home office/2nd bedroom. Now I look like I'm auditioning for Hoarders
