Fascinated by new tech and the intersection of data and storytelling, but mostly here to keep up on Cardinals baseball, INDYCAR racing and Taylor Swift ⚾ 🏎️ 🐍

Happy New Year!
WWTR never really had the problems TMS did with the PJ1 on the track, so it'll be interesting to see how this changes the racing on Saturday (and how many/which drivers go out to test out/rubber in the high line on Friday to begin with). Let's all hope for good weather!
5.) @OldViennaLLC Red Hot Riplets. (@smclaughlin93 might not be ready for this one after that Hattie B's fried chicken in this week's episode, though!)
If you're ever in town and you're not racing, I've got beer recs for you too!
Thanks @drcolleenmurphy @RaffDonelson@TasseliMcKay@yuvrajjoshi @tukanguring @genbates @genevavalerie Bret McEvoy & Jessica Addis for a great transitional justice workshop @WUSTL! Next time any of you are in StL, I'll make sure we have plenty more hot weather on tap for you! 🥵

NEW | "Does the United States need a truth and reconciliation commission (TRC) to address the nation’s legacy of racial injustice?" @JoeBartzel (@WUSTL) asks reflecting on the meaning of truth and reconciliation and the relationship between them. https://t.co/35B7F2rrev
Check out @JoeBartzel's article in our latest issue where he attends to the parallels between social conditions in the St. Louis area during the Ferguson unrest and in John of Patmos’s apocalyptic vision in the Book of Revelation. #AmRel

AMCS is pleased to announce it has awarded three postdoctoral fellowships to early career scholars. Congratulations to Joe Bartzel, Elizabeth Eikmann, and Daniel K. Woo.

Thank you @CBNSTL and @WashUSPI for publishing my op-ed on #HousingMobility programs & next steps in the St. Louis region. I believe that every family deserves to feel safe and happy in their neighborhood. https://t.co/wDoevVq159
@Aldermanjoe Couldn't make the mtg, but saw the announcement mentioned a presentation by BT. I thought convening a Bd of Freeholders was being pushed by a different group, though. Is the push for a Bd of Freeholders now being backed by the same folks who were behind BT? Thanks for clarifying!
It's always heartening and exciting to see St. Louis land major events like this. We have top-notch facilities, plenty of activities for out-of-town visitors to have a great time while they're here, and a public who prove time after time that we want to support big-time events.
#BREAKING: The 2020 Olympic Team Trials - Gymnastics are coming to St. Louis! Scheduled for June 25-28, the trials will be held at @Enterprise_Cntr! #StLouis2020

A good writeup of efforts to rename Kennard CJA in honor of Metro's founding principal Betty Wheeler, who richly deserves it. I was honored to speak to the @SLPS_INFO Special Administrative Board in favor of the change; thanks @stlpublicradio for giving the issue more visibility.
Samuel M. Kennard School in St. Louis was named for a former Confederate soldier and businessman. Parents and alumni want the name changed https://t.co/HHtMNOWFis
AMZN HQ2 was a Faustian deal all along. Glad St. Louis didn't get it. Our region is filled with passionate people working to make a difference. None of what we need most would be accomplished by billions in subsidies to what's already the world's most valuable public company.
I know that many of these properties are structurally unsafe, and that saving every single one isn't feasible, especially with no plans in place for repurposing them; even so, it's still somewhat sad to see the demolition of these buildings in the JVL being touted as progress. https://t.co/cDI1ZnhVnj
The real meat of this scandal never was sex. As soon as questions arose about where Greitens's $$$ came from, all involved started working to make the story go away quickly.
