Boundaries are hard. Easy to say "all the streets in Portland" but behind that are choices about: which source (OpenStreetMap), which Portland (Metro Planning Area), which "in" (intersects boundary). One answer is there are about 270k street segments in Portland (17.7km/11k mi).

The result of a fun add-on to our Family Activity Study. We occasionally sent out web maps asking which mode (bike, walk, bus, drive) was actually being used. Results helped us improve our own detection rates.
