I was a lifelong Libertarian, until MAGA saboteurs did a hostile takeover of the Libertarian Party and destroyed it.
I always voted Libertarian. When there was no Libertarian on the ballot, I’d vote Republican.
In 2024, I’m putting America first.
I’m voting for Kamala Harris.
In 2017, Putin puppet Trump was the front-man for Russia’s “surrender Crimea” plan.
In 2024, Putin puppet Trump is the face of Russia’s “surrender Crimea-Luhansk-Donetsk-Zaporizhzhya-Kherson” plan.
In any healthy political society this traitor would be in jail.
The FBI should investigate Angela McArdle, chairwoman of the Libertarian Party.
She started a fake, unregistered nonprofit to host an anti-Ukraine rally featuring an entire lineup Kremlin propagandists.
No one knows who donated over $100,000 for this, nor where that money went.
@shagbark_hick A general store serving as a hub for resale of locally produced goods would thrive. Every home was once a center of production. Why can they not be again?
Well, that was certainly a string of words!
I find it darkly hilarious that you think evidence of me thinking for myself would be me agreeing with you. Do you see the glaring hubris and irony in that belief?
No?
Of course not. Forget I asked.
Honestly, in reading your tweets, I don’t think you are educated enough on either geopolitics or economics to lecture others. I’ve seen you debate with people who are far more educated than you on certain topics and you are unable to realize your comparative ignorance.
But - just humor me here - what if you were wrong? Your ego doesn’t seem to allow for that possibility; you dismiss anyone who disagrees with you as a sheep. You are shielding yourself from learning anything by caricaturing those of us who have different opinions as NPCs.
Well, your loss.
Anyway, yes, some war comes down to money, resources, and real estate. Some of it is actually about ancient ethnic hostilities, which I haven’t seen you address. The Ukraine war is a bit of both.
I’m sure you love to rehearse that scene from Network every time you’re in the shower, where you demand that I atone and you tell me that there are no nations, only corporations. But that just isn’t true. There are nations, there are corporations, and there are some really ugly mongrel hybrids of both.
You see, Terry, autocracies blur the line between states and corporations. They’ve basically corporations with militaries where citizens are chattel instead of shareholders. As you might imagine, all that unaccountable, consolidated power tends to create some particularly malignant entities.
You will find that most wars are started by autocracies. There are very few instances of democracies going to war with one another, because voters don’t like war and politicians like being reelected. There’s actually a term for this: the Democratic Peace Theory.
Russia is one of those ugly hybrids I mentioned earlier: a petrochemical conglomerate with nuclear weapons that is so massive it spans 11 time zones. It only has one shareholder, who is also chairman and CEO. That man, Vladimir Putin, likely the wealthiest person on Earth, has decided he wants to expand his holdings into Ukraine, regardless of what the people of Ukraine think about that. Putin doesn’t need to worry about losing an election, because elections in Russia are faker than Ron Paul’s eyebrows.
Now, one could make valid criticisms of the military industrial complex. It is certainly morally questionable to profit from conflict and death. I get it. But the fact of the matter is, an industry can only survive so long as there’s a need for it. And, brother, is there ever a need for weapons.
Cracking open a history book shows us that there are an endless stream of power-hungry Little Men (they’re almost always short, either in stature or self-awareness) who will happily slaughter millions in their ridiculous quests to be wealthy and feel important. Putin is only the latest in a string of autocrats that goes back millennia to the beginning of empires. These Little Men never go away and they need to be dealt with for the greater good. Basically, we need weapons to kill them or the rest of us will never have any goddamn peace.
So, that was a long, roundabout way of saying this: I think you’re VERY confused about who the imperialists are, who instigates war, and who perpetuates it.
Democracies of the world naturally want peace, because that’s in their best interest, so it follows logically that therefore democracy is the way to achieve peace. However, democracies are under constant attack by autocracies, so Democracies must be armed and prepared for war if they want to survive. You may look at this preparedness as a moral flaw, or question the financiers and arms dealers who enable this preparedness, but those of us with half a clue see the preparedness (and related preparedness industries) as a requisite for survival. If you want peace, you must prepare for war.
The word “libertarian” has lost all meaning. They are now just dumber Republicans.
I have the same position on this as I do on raw milk. So long as lab grown meat is clearly labeled as such, so there’s no confusion, consumers should have a right to buy and eat it if they want.
@Dpol_un Dima, if US aid doesn’t change anything: Then why do you care?
Don’t forget: Diplomats, like you, can be and will be charged with war crimes: Soon.
The Hague awaits you.
As a Ukrainian person looking at everything that’s been happening in the world lately, here’s what I really, REALLY need people living in liberal democracies to understand as soon as possible.
This isn’t a pleasant conversation.
A thread.

@polijunkie_aus I find them hilarious. Totalitarians always use propaganda to hide the truth, because they cannot tolerate it. They will only say it is hot when it is cold. If they old say look up then we should be looking down.
@rawsalerts Rampant crime will continue and New Mexico will arrest someone who is exercising their rights under the constitution and wind up losing that case, wasting resources. This looks like a death spiral to me.
