The way Gordon has adapted to the team this quickly is honestly absurd. He looks like he's been playing with these guys for years rather than having just joined us. I think the main reason is that he's simply a team player.

He works for his teammates, makes runs to create space for them, combines with them, presses for them and is always willing to make the decision that benefits the team rather than himself.

We saw that from his very first minutes with that assist for Fermín instead of taking his own chance. Those little things make it so much easier for a new player to earn the trust and love of his teammates, and Gordon has already done exactly that.

I think Flick also knows that Olmo is probably our best option if he wants a pure false 9 but i'm starting to understand why he keeps picking Rapha and Fermin in the role over him.

Raphinha and Fermín aren't really being asked to play as pure false 9s. Their role is much more hybrid. They can drop deep sometimes like a false 9, help connect the midfield and create overloads to a certain extend, but they also make runs into the box, attack spaces behind the defence and give us some physical presence in the box.

That's why I think Flick prefers Raphinha and Fermín for this role. Olmo might be the better false 9, but the role Flick wants is a kind of mixture between a real 9 and a false 9 so Raphinha and Fermín may be better fits for that.
