Arrived in Ireland to take part in the opening ceremony of Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. I will also meet with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and President of the European Council António Costa.
Every day, Ukraine proves that it deserves to be an equal part of our shared European home. And we hope that during Ireland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, we will be able to achieve tangible progress on the path to membership and open all negotiating clusters.
Incredible fortitude and grace amid a devastating diagnosis.

Congratulations to @SeanKyneGalway on his election win on the 11th count.
Here is a sentence from the 2021-2030 national development plan (https://t.co/YkK5WqWu5O):
"In accordance with balanced regional development, a cancer care network for the Saolta region (West, North West) with a Cancer Centre at Galway University Hospital with appropriate infrastructure will be delivered"
In the NDP updates (two documents): (https://t.co/y38byILAuE; https://t.co/JMzonMK8LK) cancer services in the West of Ireland appear to have been removed from NDP considerations.
I do understand that for @FineGael, Dublin is more important (e.g.: https://t.co/7tv4nSQBn1).
Still, I refuse to let this line on the original NDP run its course unaddressed.
It is sorely needed in Donegal (LUH), Sligo (SUH), Castlebar (MUH), Ballinasloe (PUH) and Galway (UHG).
If @SeanKyneGalway can convince the Government to consider service delivery outside of Dublin, it might all work out well.
The reunification of this island would combine two highly educated & skilled workforces that would strengthen Ireland’s global economic & sectoral leadership.
NI is not a "burden", it is a dynamic economy full of potential.

My follow up essay: Ireland's Failure Premium. To answer the question a lot of people have asked me: So where the hell does all of our money go, if it's not into creating infrastructure and a high living standard?!
[The short answer is: someone's pockets. Just not yours...]
George McGowan focused on reducing health inequalities as pioneering Derry healthy living centres in Creggan and Bogside/Brandywell unite as Health for Life. "Our ultimate focus is to address those health inequalities and we strongly advocate about that."
