A seasoned pastor taught my husband and me something early on in ministry.

We were heading to the hospital to be with three kids in our youth group whose father was brain-dead because a tractor had rolled over onto him, crushing his chest.

He told us to take the kids out for ice cream, not to sit there staring at their father on a ventilator.

He said grieving well means taking breaks. You cannot endlessly turn tragic events over in your mind. You cannot cry non-stop. In fact, it’s harmful. Failing to give your mind and body a break from the shock does not allow you to move through the stages of grief and, ultimately, toward healing.

I didn’t need to learn that lesson twice.

Over the last 30 years, we have met with parents, children, and spouses who had just been handed terrible diagnoses, whose children were delivered stillborn, whose father died in a multi-car freeway pileup, whose mother was strangled by a man renting her upstairs studio.

We meet them where they are. We mourn when they mourn. We sit in heavy silence. And sometimes we take them out to go putt-putting. We encourage them to attend a friend’s birthday party. We tell jokes and share memories that lighten the mood.

Laughing doesn’t diminish a tragedy. It helps you process it more fully.

I try not to be partisan. But at this point, it is undeniable that from 2016 and following, all the way through for four years, there was a massive plot at all levels of government to oust Donald Trump from power. One he was pushed out, the plot intensified to bankrupt him and jail him and make sure he could never be elected again. Countless agencies and plotters at all levels participated.

Fwiw - This was always the case.

Anyone who did any small amount of research into the events of J6 knew there was always something so completely off.

Everyone always gives the standard fare "listen what happened that day was tragic" talking point but we all knew.

- The paramilitary groups that broke in through the windows and entered, demanding others enter, as well.

- The masked people who communicated with the cameras in the ceiling to instruct someone in the control room to open all the magnetic doors from the inside. Which, how?

- The masked paramilitary looking people who were caught on camera in the nearby park changing into MAGA attire to blend in. Again, why?

- The agitators that were communicating with people to push past barriers against the will of the people standing behind them.

- Agitators, many of whom became known later to be formally or currently on FBI payroll, telling people - the day before and on the day of - what was going to happen.

- The people whose job was solely to capture the faces of people who were entering single-file into the building very calmly while simultaneously encouraging them to enter.

- Nancy Pelosi denied National Guard from helping the day before, the morning of, and were only allowed to arrive once people were physically inside.

- The pipe bombs, basically made in the same way the FBI training manual dictates, were never investigated.

- The security who might have had anything to say about the day committed suicide.

- Behavior from many Democrat politicians that day indicated prior knowledge, specifically AOC and Pelosi.
