Long overdue, but I had the incredible chance to speak on @LBCILebanon “Live at 3” with Mr. @BassamAbouZeid & @KozhayaAnhal . We discussed U.S. foreign policy, China & economic competition, tariffs & trade, Syria’s tensions, AI in IR, Lebanon’s crisis, Iran, Palestine & Israel.
I understand that #LiamPayne was famous, and may he rest in peace. What I don’t understand is why his death made global headlines within moments, while countless innocent children and civilians are massacred without a word. How many more need to suffer before the world wakes up?
#Lebanon and #Palestine are being bombed every single day, but sure, let's prioritize dissecting how the #VSFashionShow failed to meet your high expectations. Who cares about war and human lives when fashion critiques are clearly more pressing?
Grateful for the opportunity extended by Dr. @isalamey to witness the historic signing ceremony between the Lebanese American University and the Lebanese Armed Forces Civil-Military Cooperation Directorate. A testament to the power of collaboration in fostering positive change.
"I believe there is hope; we have to keep hope alive, and I think that is why you are all here," shared Ms. @Haneen_WB, concluding her presentation in Dr. @isalamey's class. #PoliticalEconomy#Lebanon
Ms. @Haneen_WB revealed that 2020 witnessed the worst human capital downturn, marked by a devastating decline of -21.4%. The World Bank has classified it as the third-largest drop globally. In 2023, the decline has become less, part of that is gravity. @isalamey#HumanCapital
In pre-October 2019, Lebanon faced ominous signs; investors sensed trouble, and the departure of foreign exchange, vital for a country reliant on it, began. The economic halt in 2019 marked the onset of a balance of payment crisis as disclosed by @Haneen_WB thanks to @isalamey.
@isalamey

Being a female diplomat poses unique challenges. Women worldwide, including Lebanon, still face hurdles in various sectors. While progress has been made, we must continue to break barriers. Thanks to @abirali2 and @isalamey for shedding light on this issue. It was an honor!
In Dr. @isalamey's Government & Politics of Lebanon class, he hosted the inspiring speaker, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E @abirali2. H.E. eloquently briefed us on consular work, public diplomacy, protocol, and challenges faced by female diplomats.
H.E. @abirali2 shares the tasks of diplomacy: representation and negotiation. She also emphasizes that protecting Lebanese interests is a diplomat's main goal. Not only that, she says, "we need to be influencers, influencing the public with our culture and products." @isalamey
According to @tinegade, Tripoli is divided into two divisions; the wealthy and the poor, as noted by Charbel Nahas. Additionally, there are many internal cleavages in the cities. Mrs. Gade also highlights the concept of "othering" Tripoli by some in Beirut.
@isalamey
Thrilled to have hosted researcher @tinegade in our class, thanks to Dr. @isalamey. Gade has quite an impressive and extensive background, with a fascinating perspective on Tripoli, as captured in her book Sunni City: Tripoli from Islamist Utopia to the Lebanese 'Revolution'.
@tinegade explored the evolution of Tripoli's image from a "scarecrow" to its current form as a secondary city. Gade pointed out that the Western media's portrayal of Tripoli as a scary hub of radical groups has contributed to this image, examining its implications.
@isalamey
Just had a guy call me uncultured for not knowing who Kid Cudi is... this coming from the same person who couldn't name me a single country in Latin America. But yeah, please educate me on the truly important things in life.
