It is strange that despite living in Delhi/NCR for almost 15 years, it is difficult to pinpoint one uniform thing about the city. So many mini cities inside one city..

But i really did like science! doesnt matter now, and didnt matter then: but for some reason i do distinctly remember even after two decades in law that i liked organic over inorganic chemistry, calculus over algebra, and physics over mathematics generally..

Its been two decades but i remember when i chose a career in law, despite getting through AIEEE, BITSAT etc (no, i didnt make it through IIT and it remains a lifetime regret😭)..the long lonely walks and runs when i slowly decided to give up on science and an alternative future..

The ability to respond to fresh stimuli may be mimicked by machines in the near future, but the 'ability' to forget and recall is truly human. It is magical how an ordinary event can suddenly flood your mind with many memories that were long lost to the comforts of forgetting..

When one walks through the lush green gardens at Khusro's tomb in Prayagraj, one cannot help wondering if our country's destiny would have been different if a relatively liberal and secular Khusro (instead of a conservative Jehangir) had succeeded a liberal Akbar. #FamilyDramas!

Just completed 'Train to Pakistan': During the murderous partition, when politicians, bureaucrats and society itself, failed in the familiarly horrible yet self-justifying ways; a history-sheeter, foul-mouthed criminal heroically steps up for the woman he loves. Wah!

Religious bigotry is often sadly the prerogative of middle-class educated minds. The absolute poor are often simpletons who are easily manipulated/ unmanipulated, while the ultra-rich consider any mass hysteria as a threat to their private wealth and affluence.

Recovered from a spinal surgery within almost a week and pain gone overnight! A feat which is now normal, was a one-off even a few decades back. Thanks, Neurosurgery! We should normalise thanking human achievements rather than abstract ideas like fate, god, luck etc. every time.
