Today I visit Montalcino with a tinge of sadness.
Yesterday, the iconic winemaker Gianfranco Soldera passed away.
Always a controversial character. His Case Basse Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva 1990 remains the greatest Brunello I have ever tasted. R.I.P. Gianfranco Soldera.
