Roger Garrison's Mises University lecture on ABCT was my lightbulb moment. I decided then and there to pursue a PhD in econ at Auburn. I took a few of his classes and enjoyed every minute of it — the readings, lectures, the famous PowerPoints, even the exams and assignments.

So it's no exaggeration to say that he almost singlehandedly diverted my life, in a direction that I love. The butterfly effect of Garrison's influence on my life includes finding an amazing wife and being blessed with three amazing kids.

My favorite thing about Professor Garrison was his sense of humor. It was subtle, whimsical, and smart. While the jokes in his PowerPoints were obviously planned, he had a quick wit in conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him over lunch or in his office hours. Hopefully I didn't bug him too much with my many questions about Austrian econ!

He will be greatly missed, and not just by me, as anyone can tell by the remarks by those who knew him.
