@EmilyMandel reading Sea of Tranquility and a fan just asked olive about the anticlimactic end to the Prophet in Marienbad. I must say I share Olive’s surprise, and have whenever I’ve seen it, that there’s so much talk about this scene in the book. I found it perfectly climactic.

@CalltoActivism Grew up in a western New York suburb. A white kid in a multicultural family. It was pretty clear pretty early the kids and adults who wanted to sneak in racist language expecting me to be on board. As I aged I noticed they were the Republicans. This was the 80’s. I always knew.
