@mornings0da No worries at all most of the features like the most were from unsolicited requests!! Yup, one of my friends asked about this too. I have it on the TODO list but I'm gonna bump it up closer to the top for ya :)
@mornings0da But I haven’t heard of anyone saying it’s slow with the unwalked blocks setting on so I’ll make note to persist the setting even if the app is quit.
@norabird@AsadFromNYC I spent months fine tuning the battery usage for WalkNYC and it’s very good at not counting blocks while on a subway (still working on slow moving bus), so you should give it a try to see if it works better for you!
@AsadFromNYC@super180s Currently working on adding achievements, like walk every bridge, park, NYPL. Was hoping to pair each with a fun fact (my favorite from Ric Burns' NYC doc: when the Brooklyn bridge was built, it was the tallest structure in North America)! I imagine you have some fantastic ones!
@super180s@AsadFromNYC I'm pretty crazy about privacy so I made sure all location data stays on device, the only thing that gets sent to the server is what you see on the leaderboard (e.g. the number of blocks walked, the server doesn't see which blocks they are just the count)!
What you discover when you take absurdly long walks through NYC:
"There’s even a new app called WalkNYC that allows New Yorkers to track each block they’ve ever walked in the city." https://t.co/MOkgYFXhAG
@jenneration_yu@WalkNYCApp No worries! So was it just a little laggy to update the block count? Were you looking at the progress bar at the bottom or somewhere else?
@jonathanallen44@samsheffer I'm with you there! Working on "achievements" now, like walking every bridge, visiting all the parks/museums, that kind of thing. I think I could do neighborhood based stuff too, just need to define some bounds (hopefully that won't step on too many toes).
