New results on asymptotic state interconversion open the way for novel coherent thermodynamic protocols. @marcotomamichel@QuantumChubb@joerenes

@FRevson@siddhantphy Yeah our decoder (https://t.co/K88DMCeng9) would be impractical for larger codes.
But we shouldn't be too quick to conclude that an impractical TN is needed.
Our hope is that new tricks can be developed; there's no shortage of TN research! (I'm still hopeful that BP can work.)
@FRevson@siddhantphy Ideally, yes. But we're essentially working at fixed bond dimension, so the approximate contraction method deviates more and more from ideal contraction as the size of the tensor network increases.
@earltcampbell@siddhantphy It's TEBD-style layer by layer contraction from one face, where the face at each stage is described by a PEPS or similar. Truncation is done using the "simple update" rule. Unfortunately we didn't get much improvement from recent methods, eg BP https://t.co/w4IPX1mPUY
New paper on quantum dichotomies and quantum thermodynamics is finally out! https://t.co/naszSltTte
Together with Patryk Lipka-Bartosik, @joerenes, @marcotomamichel, and Kamil Korzekwa we look at asymptotic conversion rates of quantum dichotomies beyond the first-order. (1/6)
@felix_led @enclanglement@markwilde@quantum_graeme@kenbrownquantum@RichardKueng I don't think that's in the contract. I'll have to ask about a pdf on my website. If I ever do this again, I'll be sure to keep that possibility -- can correct all the mistakes right away! Also, wide availability is nice. (At the moment, ETH library does not even have access. 😅)
