Wij zijn gestopt met deze tourniquetactie

Naar aanleiding van de vele vragen en reacties over onze tourniquetactie hebben wij besloten deze actie te beëindigen.

De certificaten, testdocumenten n overige documenten van de fabrikant die ons ter beschikking staan, bieden onvoldoende basis om onze eerdere uitspraak dat deze tourniquets kwalitatief vergelijkbaar zijn met CoTCCC aanbevolen tourniquets overtuigend te onderbouwen.

Ook betekenen positieve ervaringen van individuele militairen niet automatisch dat hun brigades als organisatie achter deze tourniquets staan. Dat hadden wij duidelijker moeten onderscheiden.

Daarom bestellen wij geen nieuwe exemplaren van dit type en delen wij onze resterende voorraad niet meer uit voor medische inzet.

Onze voorraad tourniquets zal alleen voor trainingen worden aangeboden en zal duidelijk en permanent als trainingsmateriaal worden gemarkeerd. Zo kan geen verwarring ontstaan en kunnen de beschikbare CoTCCC-aanbevolen tourniquets worden gereserveerd voor noodsituaties aan het front.

Op X hadden wij tijdelijk de reactiemogelijkheid uitgezet en enkele reacties verwijderd. Dat deden wij niet om kritische vragen te ontwijken of informatie achter te houden. Naast terechte vragen en kritiek werden wij uitgemaakt voor moordenaars en ontvingen wij zelfs telefonische doodsbedreigingen. In combinatie met de toch al hoge druk tijdens onze reis naar Oekraïne konden wij die extra belasting op dat moment niet aan.

Dat neemt niet weg dat wij de inhoudelijke vragen en kritiek serieus nemen. Mede daarom hebben wij nu deze beslissing genomen.

Wij zijn deze actie begonnen vanuit de oprechte overtuiging dat we hiermee mensen in Oekraïne zouden helpen. Nu blijkt dat onze eerdere uitspraken onvoldoende kunnen worden onderbouwd, vinden wij stoppen de enige juiste beslissing.

Na onze reis bekijken we of we voortaan tourniquets van de geregistreerde modellen kunnen aanschaffen. Daarbij beoordelen we vooraf zorgvuldig de herkomst, certificering, onafhankelijke testresultaten en aanbevelingen. Pas wanneer wij voldoende zekerheid hebben over de kwaliteit en geschiktheid, zullen wij eventueel een nieuwe actie starten.

When you now see justifications for Russian barbaric strikes on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure (destroyed shopping malls, warehouses with food, logistics civilian warehouses or warehouses with humanitarian aid to the victims), just remember that Russia has been hitting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale invasion since 2022!

Average numbers of destroyed Ukrainian infrastructure before Ukraine started to answer:
Warehouses: ~900–1,000+; shopping malls: ~30–35; logistics/postal sorting centers: hundreds (part of broader warehouse/logistics losses); hospitals: ~500–600; schools: ~1,500–2,000; kindergartens: ~1,000–1,300 (approximate, cumulative damaged/destroyed by Russian strikes to mid-July 2026).

It's just that before Ukraine had nothing to respond to on Russian territory. And now there is something. And that's why dictator Putin turned on his old fake record about "retaliatory strikes."

As fond as I am of Kaja Kallas, I despair that Europe will ever learn the severity of the situation. There is still extensive trade with Russia, from Ireland to Germany and Greece. EU–Russia goods trade still amounted to €58.1 billion in 2025, consisting of €27.9 billion in EU imports from Russia and €30.2 billion in EU exports to Russia. Services trade added another €9.6 billion.

And then there are the 500,000 Russian tourists who gleefully holidayed in Europe while their country was murdering Ukrainians.
