Absolutely tragic news. The Microsoft layoffs--over 9000 people, I've heard--have affected many of my longtime industry friends, like Chris Rhinehart (one of the lead devs on Prey 2006), Tom Hall, Brenda & John Romero, and more. The 90's version of the game industry was truly the golden age because talented devs and studios could get funding and make great, original AAA level games. Now it's nearly impossible for such a thing to happen, and when funding does come it can be pulled away without good reason. This is not the industry it once was.

I love images like this. It doesn't matter who you are as a #gamedev, everyone starts in a corner of a bedroom with nothing but passion, a dream and lots of hours at the computer.
It's a huge honor for Quake to be inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame! On behalf of the entire original Quake team, thanks so much @museumofplay!
