@PierrePoilievre You’ve said nothing on HOW you plan to reduce rent.
Make landlords register as businesses, provide criteria on what can be a rental property, and cap rent increases to cost of living. Tie rents to assessment value. Landlords want higher rent, they pay higher municipal taxes.
@Federalist26@ihatedapatriots@jordanbpeterson Do you not think politicians in today’s “democracy” are pushing towards fascism and dictatorship? They bow to corporations, giving tax money to profitable companies, and I still no regulation. They’ve allowed corporate interests to supersede government and, thus, the people
@jordanbpeterson Incorrect. Socialism means that we ensure that everyone has the means to survive. Homes, food, safety. It means that those who want more can thrive by working for it. Not by having wealth and power accrue generationally or through shrewd “investing,” but actually working for it
@PierrePoilievre I mean, I think this is a product of “free market” capitalism. Make all landlords register properties and have them inspected annually or biannually. Cap rent based on assessed value of the property, so high rent buildings are paying higher property tax.
@PierrePoilievre You know it’s actually corporations driving up inflation, right? They see there is more money in the market, and this raise prices to get more of it. Inflation is an exploitive effect of capitalism, and not a result of government action (regardless of party). Tax corporations
@WeAreCanProud Good thing it’s still two years until the next election. Maybe Polievre will actually do some work over that time instead of throwing tantrums all the time.
Workers don’t ever go on strike because they want to. They risk their livelihoods and job security to fight for better wages, better treatment, and a better tomorrow for all workers in the union. Government CAN afford to pay workers, but it just isn’t their priority.
