Volt Resources Limited @asxvolt $VRC.ax has signed a Binding Term Sheet with the Unbounded Opportunities Fund SPC to fund and advance the Bunyu Graphite Mine and Processing Plant in Tanzania. This agreement introduces a major equity partner and sets a clear development framework for increased production capacity, improved capital efficiency, and low operating costs.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙨
• USD11.1 million equity investment committed on a conditional basis
• Structure via Volt Graphite Tanzania plc with UOF to hold 62 percent and Volt 38 percent post financing
• Revised Feasibility Study to target:
 • USD37 million project capital cost
 • 40,000 tpa graphite concentrate at 94 percent TGC
 • USD450 per tonne operating cost
• UOF to fund any capital cost overruns
• UOF equity to reduce if unit operating costs rise more than 10 percent above target
• New board and management structure with UOF majority representation
• Volt responsible for debt funding, offtake agreements, land and permitting

On January 31st, 2025, the High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of South Africa hosted a meeting with representatives of the South African business community and investors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation’s Sub-Office in Dar es Salaam. The South African delegation was led by Mr. Manish Thakrar, Chairperson, South African Business Forum in Tanzania(SABF).

The meeting was opened by Ambassador Said Mussa Shaib, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. The session aimed to facilitate dialogue between South African investors and Tanzanian government entities responsible for coordinating business and investment activities.

Attendees included representatives from:
The President’s Office – Planning & Investment (PMO);The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation (MFAEAC); The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC); The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA); Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL); The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade); The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA); and The Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF).

The meeting enabled a fruitful dialogue on the efforts made by the Tanzanian Government to create a conducive environment for investment; take stock of the 235 Investment Projects from South Africa in Tanzania, worth of 1 Billion USD, in the Manufacturing, Mining, Service, Tourism, Commercial Buildings and others.

It also provided a platform for the government entities to present the deliberate government efforts to facilitate Foreign Direct Investments, as well as the efforts to develop infrastructures such as the road network in Tanzania; a Standard Gauge Railway and the resumption of the ATCL's direct passengers and cargo flights between Tanzania and South Africa.

The meeting also provided a platform for South African investors to share their opinion on the ongoing fiscal policy and regulatory measures undertaken by the government with a view to strength and promote bilateral trade and investment.

The event concluded as a fruitful and productive step toward deepening economic collaboration between the two nations for mutual benefit.
