This year’s theme, “A Global Call for Climate Action,” calls for stronger climate action, increased climate finance, and collective efforts to build a sustainable future.

“This has been a day of great meaning and promise. Rwanda appreciates the steps you have taken. We have chosen to look forward, and write a new chapter together, and that choice is already bearing fruit. The ambition is there on both sides. But what matters most is the renewal of trust. Today, France is an important partner for Rwanda, in investment, technology, climate, and many other common priorities. Rwanda looks forward to working with France to deepen our collaboration, and expand the possibilities between our two countries.” President Kagame
Last night in Paris, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame attended a dinner at Palais de l'Élysée, hosted by President @EmmanuelMacron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, following the inauguration of the memorial commemorating the victims of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.
As we kick off the Africa Forward Summit, I had the privilege of co-hosting a high-level dialogue on Green Industrialisation with the Africa-Europe Foundation, IDDRI, and the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative, with support from the G7 French Presidency.
At its core, the discussion was about genuine industrial partnership built on co-investment, co-creation, and shared prosperity.
In the room were African and European policymakers, development finance leaders, and private investors, speaking with unusual candour about both the opportunities and the constraints.
Participants agreed that the old model has not delivered. What is emerging instead is a shared intent to build something more balanced, more durable, and more aligned with long-term value creation.
Key areas highlighted:
- Infrastructure, energy, climate, digital tools, critical minerals, and industrial growth must be tackled together, and Africa sits at the centre of all of these.
- Digital infrastructure is a quiet enabler; driving traceability, unlocking capital, and making green industrialisation investable at scale.
As we move into the next days of the summit, the direction is clear: move faster, co-create, co-invest in regional value chains, and ensure that value, jobs, revenues, and capabilities are anchored on the continent.

The agenda spans investment, innovation, infrastructure, rural transformation, and the blue economy. But the bigger story is the shift; away from historical asymmetries, toward co-investment and shared prosperity.

This evening at State House in Nairobi, President Kagame joined other leaders for a State Dinner hosted by President William Ruto of Kenya and First Lady Rachel Ruto in honour of Heads of State and Government attending the #AfricaForward Summit.
This afternoon, President Kagame arrived in Nairobi, Kenya where he joins over 25 Heads of State and Government from across the African continent for the #AfricaForward Summit co-hosted by President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya and President @EmmanuelMacron of France.
Honored to contribute at the #AfricaForwardSummit in Nairobi on integrating debt sustainability and climate transition from an African perspective. Rwanda’s approach to green finance and investment reforms was highlighted as supporting resilient econ. and green industrialization.
No speech, no song and no UN resolution can express the sorrow caused by the 1994 Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi, more than the pictures of women, men and children whose lives were shattered during the 100 days of horror.

“Artificial intelligence carries high potential to support health care workers and to improve how care is delivered. But this potential is only realized if AI is applied with purpose, strong values and people at the center.” Minister Paula Ingabire (@MusoniPaula), Minister of ICT & Innovation for Rwanda (@RwandaICT)
Rwanda currently has only one healthcare worker per 1,000 people, far below the @WHO recommendation of about four per 1,000. It would take 180 years for that gap to close at the current pace of progress. So, as part of the 4x4 reform initiative, Minister of Health Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana (@nsanzimanasabin) recently announced the launch of an AI-powered Health Intelligence Center in Kigali to help ensure limited health care resources are being used as wisely as possible.
As part of the #Horizon1000 initiative, we aim to accelerate the adoption of AI tools across primary care clinics, within communities and in people’s homes. These AI tools will support health workers, not replace them.
