For much of the past month, headlines have focused on valuation, financing costs and whether the AI investment cycle is beginning to fade.

The evidence on the ground continues to paint a more nuanced picture.

While equity markets debate multiples, billions continue to be committed to the physical infrastructure required to support AI. Data centres, power systems, networking equipment and electrical infrastructure are still being planned, financed and constructed. The market can reprice expectations in weeks; infrastructure projects typically unfold over years.

This distinction remains central to the PORT thesis.

Market Reality

The AI trade has become more selective.

Companies with stretched valuations are increasingly being judged on execution rather than narrative alone. Investors are asking tougher questions about returns on capital, cash generation and the pace at which AI investment translates into revenue.

That is healthy.

A maturing investment cycle does not necessarily imply that the underlying build-out has stopped.

Field Intelligence

Recent observations from European markets continue to indicate expansion across the AI infrastructure ecosystem.

Construction activity remains active across multiple regions, while engineering contractors continue to expand their operational footprint into additional European countries.

These observations do not, by themselves, prove future earnings or investment returns.

They do reinforce that the physical deployment of AI infrastructure continues beyond the daily swings in market sentiment.

PORT COMP

I think this is a stronger direction than Issue 001 because it begins to show PORT maturing from a thesis into an evidence-driven intelligence publication, with PORT COMP serving as the live testing ground for that thesis.
