@templetonf Thank you for letting us know here. Fleur was a truly lovely person and I have such fond memories of her at Otago Uni comms. To your family, Kia kaha and much aroha . X
@A_G_Hawkins Economy also impt. Our heritage structures aren’t just to look at - collectively, they’re our key point of marketing difference for tourist industry and new residents alike. Would be awesome if we rejuvenate and live in them as well, not send to landfill, which hurts the planet.
@A_G_Hawkins Intensification around the inner city all fine and sounding virtuous Aaron, if it wasn’t for our prime heritage being in the way of intensification zones as they were drawn on your watch. What is your stance on the demolition (instead of reuse) of Dunedin as we know it?
@graham_radio @Stanho1Stanhope @cunardline@telebusiness@BBCNews Worried as my 80 year old mother and I are booked on the NZ cruise on the QE from Jan 6 and now told cannot cancel as would forfeit 75%. No comms from Cunard - found the Bali-barred story myself..Cunard should not ignore potential damage to brand.
@MediawatchNZ Was disappointed at this RNZ show excusing senior journalists in NZ promoting products on Instagram, calling this activity “relatively minor.” So those we get our facts from can be excused because Mike Hosking did it too? RNZ already too close to TVNZ. What the future holds?
@ROSSMCK3691 @southernscoop@sinead_gill Can’t see piles of rubble yet? Only early ornate facades still there. ‘All for heritage’ means these remain. New builds look strange in a heritage precinct - is why smarter cities know heritage is now more valuable and marketable, and people want them kept, restored and reused.
@southernscoop@sinead_gill These buildings gone tragically destroys a major Dunedin heritage precinct impt for economy, losing oldest commercial area in Dunedin CBD - in NZ’s heritage city. DCC must oppose!! Where is the vision? RMA reform needed URGENTLY to save others: Chair of Southern Heritage Trust.
@ClintVSmith Councils allowing self-righteous property owners to neglect buildings hurts communities like Dunedin because valuable space is locked up, unproductive, turns off visitors and investors as street aesthetic dies, impacting economics of surrounds. Laws preventing this needed now!
@edmuzik If it was foot and mouth disease, plan says all travel would be blocked by now. Why not to protect south from covid. Only allow essential services eg food flow. Twitter campaign needed.
@WoodhouseMP can you strongly advocate stopping ongoing passenger flights from Hamilton, Auckland, Rotorua,to Christchurch or the South Isl as a rule and be like Tasmania - there’s still time. If this was foot and mouth disease we would have done that by now.
@ohaotearoa@otago Absolutely stoked to see this appointment. Hats off to David and to University Council for great governance in selecting the right person for the job 👏
What this deluge reminds us - media wise - that radio is mainly networked out of Auckland. No local Christchurch station providing up to date details about flooding, etc. That's pathetic. #flooding
@nz_voter Actually not a muppet. What he’s getting at is not we shouldn’t have masks, but that Govt may know more than it’s saying. In recent days we’ve also had the “not if but when” Bloomfield comment, and the tracer app concerns. I agree with Brownlie - why the concern?
@JudithCollinsMP I reckon she said “defined for Maori, by Maori” not “to find Maori, for Maori”. So I think incorrectly translated on that one - to be fair
@mackersline@bryce_edwards Always appreciated your honesty, Dene, when working in the newsroom with you. One of journalism’s good buggars and an excellent journalist to boot. Enjoy your next stage xxx
