Alabama - 2
Southern Miss - 5
Ben Higdon homered to deep center field (400 ft), 1st of season, 4RBI (0-0); Kyle Morrison scored; Seth Smith scored from second base; Caleb Stelly scored from first base.
Patrick Mahomes is out for the season with a torn ACL, which means Brandon High School graduate Gardner Minshew is now the Chiefs’ starting quarterback for the final three games. That matters because Minshew’s base salary this year is only $1.1 million, but he has a $3.83 million bonus tied to playing 20% of the team’s offensive snaps.
The Chiefs are averaging 60.9 offensive snaps per game this season. Over a full 17-game season, that works out to roughly 1,037 snaps, so the 20% mark comes out to 208 snaps. Minshew has already played 27 snaps, which means he needs 181 more.
With three games left, Kansas City is expected to run about 183 more offensive plays if the averages hold. Minshew needs to be on the field for almost every snap the rest of the way to hit that bonus. For a quarterback making $1.1 million, more than triple that amount is now riding on nearly every play he takes.

Biloxi - 0
Biloxi muffs a punt that tumbles into the end zone where the Tigers pounce on it. The referees argue that the Indians never had possession so it’s a touchback and not a touchdown. Coach Lacey is irate.
Cherry on top: we’re now in a 30 minute lighting delay.
