Twenty-five years ago next month, Kyle Lutnick was just five years old when his father, Howard Lutnick, dropped him off for his first day of kindergarten before heading to work at Cantor Fitzgerald. That simple act of fatherhood saved Howard’s life when terrorists struck the World Trade Center on 9/11, claiming the lives of 658 of his colleagues.

Fast forward to Sunday in Bridgehampton, where Kyle joined us for The Brady Hunter Foundation’s fundraiser, helping raise $250,000 for animal welfare. Now Executive Vice Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald, Kyle was joined in spirit by his father—today serving as U.S. Secretary of Commerce—who also made a significant charitable contribution to the event.

It’s a reminder that for the Lutnick family, every day is a gift, and giving back has become one way of honoring the extraordinary second chance they were given.

Scary moment before I snapped this pic outside my office window yesterday. At about 2:30 p.m., Marine One lifted off from the White House carrying President Trump to Joint Base Andrews. According to preliminary FAA findings, the Marine One crew made three separate radio calls advising Reagan National’s control tower they were three minutes from departure, but the transmissions apparently were not acknowledged.

The helicopter then departed into the path of an Envoy Air passenger jet, resulting in what the FAA described as a momentary loss of required separation—the aircraft came within approximately 0.8 miles laterally and 700 feet vertically of one another.

Both aircraft continued safely and no one was in danger, but the incident has triggered an FAA and NTSB investigation into why commercial traffic was not halted as required under post-2025 safety procedures around Reagan National, according to Reuters.
