I fasted for 9 days to raise awareness about the ongoing massacre of Kuki-Zomi tribal Christians in Manipur. Finally, @NamtaUs (representing the community on whose behalf I fasted) appealed to me to stop and @Fiacona_us (representing Indian-American Christians) issued the same appeal. I chose to submit to their call.

On 2 August, I met leaders from FIACONA in New York City to finally break my fast. I was reluctant to do so, and would have liked to keep going. Yet, as both NAMTA and FIACONA have noted, the fast has served its purpose and it is now time to regain strength to approach the struggle with renewed energy and different tactics.

I will continue to do the most I can to spread awareness about the persecution of the Kuki-Zomi, of Indian Christians, and of other religious minorities — and work, in whatever way possible, to help end that persecution.
