And all teams need an enforcer like him to protect guys like Cade. Coaching can help dial back the intensity in the reg season hopefully, so he doesn’t wear out in the playoffs

@rodimusprime There’s no way he wasn’t injured, even if he claims otherwise. The fact that his downfall coincided with that awful fall makes me think he’s lying. Why? No clue. But you don’t go from blocking shots at a near league-high clip to essentially none unless you were injured.

@stup1dbeaver @ImJustKyle_ They have to keep their core intact, and trades should ideally involve future pick capital, as with Cade on the team, barring injury, they likely won’t have a high pick again soon. Then again, with this bizarre anti-tanking draft reform, maybe some future picks will be valuable?

@ImJustKyle_ @suum24 Keep missing? Who aside from Matas would you rather have from that anemic 2024 draft? Second round picks rarely turn into rotation players, so can he be criticized for those? He’s had three total picks in two drafts, and he “keeps missing”? This isn’t Darko Milicic territory.

@ImJustKyle_ He’s 20 and can play defense and finish. His form isn’t bad and he’ll likely continue to improve. He also plays really hard and has a surfeit of confidence. He’s the age of a college sophomore now, and has all the tools to become a good to great player. Will he? We’ll find out.

@TaS0022 @KuKhahil Yeah, look at what happened in game 7 against the Cavs. He’s incredible for short bursts. But a great backup at best. Not a starting center on a championship team. Is JD? That’s Trajan’s quandary. Don’t envy him.

@seanhalfcourt Well, there were those broken ribs. And the collapsed lung he was recovering from. And he wouldn’t use those as excuses, either. He left it all out there and ran out of gas. I’m amazed he played 40 minutes a night dealing with this too, carrying the biggest load in the league.

@seanhalfcourt @KuKhahil See my earlier reply. They likely didn’t watch the games, and groupthink is dangerous. These advanced stats can be very misleading without proper context. Unfortunate. They’re meant to give us a deeper understanding of the game. But too often, they discourage critical thinking.

But let’s fire him and destabilize the team again. Hell, why not tank and rebuild?

@seanhalfcourt Also, isn’t the award named after Chuck Daly? Some irony in that he never won COTY, despite being widely acknowledged as the league’s best coach for 4-5 seasons, winning 2 championships (and had one stolen from him), and coaching the Dream Team. This award’s always been a joke.

But can we take into account that JB inherited a 14 win team, elevated them to 44 wins, and then to 60 and a win away from the ECF? Mazzula inherited a finals team. No matter the circumstances this year, JB’s deserves more credit than he gets

@PistonStandard @HunterPatterson Just can’t worry about it. The most deserving coach rarely wins it. Voters look for a compelling narrative, and they ate up “team competes during ‘skip’ season.” Going from 14 to 60 wins in two seasons without a payroll or roster close to other contenders wasn’t enough.

He did a fine job, but what does JB have to do to win? He took a team from 14 to 60 wins in two seasons, and made the joke of the league a contender, a one seed. Win 70 games?

@the_goffense His show on Beasley was infuriating. So much conjecture. I don’t like him at all. He seems to find pleasure in the downfall of others. it’s sociopathic behavior. And he did incalculable damage to Beasley with that hit piece. His show is as tawdry and vacuous as the kardashians.

@HunterPatterson Chuck Daly never won it and the award’s named after him. NBA needs to rethink the voting process on awards. So much groupthink, and so many results are just plain wrong. Also, it’s impossible to follow every team closely. You need a compelling narrative to win. Mazzulla had one.
