@amconmag If a state is truly "failed," how does it simultaneously possess the resources to threaten the most powerful military force on earth? What specific, verifiable assets does it hold that pose a direct danger?
Interesting to see what’s developed out of the Iran war.
@RANDCorporation new report on China's Strategic Petroleum Reserve is a wake-up call. China's oil stockpile has grown so large it could shift from "energy security buffer" to "geoeconomic leverage tool."
@ShadowofEzra Remember when the government pulled this exact move during COVID and everyone called it tyrannical? Funny how the same tactics are fine now that they're being used for a narrative she likes.
@TomLondon6@academic_la Sounds familiar. Where have I hear something similar……. “We had the moral right, we had the duty to our own people, to kill this people”
Heinrich Himmler October 4th, 1943
Physical, moral, institutional decay all trace back to the same root cause: nobody plans past their own tenure.
I’ve spent two decades responding to what that produces.
‘Leave it better than you found it’ isn’t a nice sentiment, it’s a decision most people quietly opt out of
Before you accept a headline: who’s the source, what do they gain if you believe it, who funds them, and what’s in it for the funders? Most “news” fails at least one of those checks. That’s not cynicism, it’s critical thinking, it’s basic source assessment. IC analysts do this by default. Most media consumers never learn to.
I understand this quite well. I live on a border state with Mexico, and we give away our fair share of benefits to illegals here in the US.
My post was meant as a basic geography lesson for (most) people. Considering the media and every post is acting as though mainland Spain just had its borders over run. I thought it was worth pointing out that it’s literally on another continent, however close to Spain it is.
@BienvenidoLuisA@MarioNawfal The purpose of my post was a geography lesson. This story is being presented everywhere as if mainland Spain has just been overrun.
This has to be one of the most infuriating aspects of foreign policy. All the same people have been making all the same mistakes for the majority of my life. Zero repercussions.
In conservative politics and media there is zero reputational or career risk in being too aggressive selling wars to the public that turn out to be disasters. You can be as bold as you’d like risking the lives of other people’s children and the system will ensure you’re rewarded
@DaruneAlbane@Chesapeake02@OwenShroyer1776 He did give him an award. Presidential Commendation as part of a larger recognition of the Operation Warp Speed
