I just finished my last blog post, and I should receive my last textbook for American Vernacular Music tomorrow! How did 2 years go by this quickly?! #UFMUE
Trying to determine my Capstone Project topic for the Spring! It's between 'Creativity in the Secondary Large Ensemble' and 'Motivation and Retention: Bridging the Gap Between Middle and High School Band.'
#UFMUE hive mind - what do you think?
I was initially concerned about what direction I would take my WebQuest for #UFMUE. Decided to take my high school music appreciation students on an interactive exploration of creative listening with the help of #NPR#tinydeskconcert!
I am super new to this whole twitter thing, and I kind of geeked out when I saw @Flipgrid retweeted my #UFMUE post from last week. Thanks for the shoutout!
Received a class set of MIDI keyboards yesterday for my Music Appreciation students! So excited to transform how I teach the "other 80%" of my music students! #UFMUE
I really cannot suggest FlipGrid enough for musical discussions and reflection! After just a couple of days, this is the level of engagement I had with my ensemble on an introduction and musical reflection discussion board. Thanks #UFMUE for showing me FlipGrid
Finished up everything from this week's workload for #UFMUE master's program. A challenging yet fun week exploring Audacity and technology related to music performance.
Looking forward to checking out the educational opportunities with Spotify next week!
Finished up the "Mah Nah Mah Nah" project today, and I am super happy with the final product. Special guest appearance by Bart Simpson. Check it out! #UFMUE

Had marching band rehearsal on Thursday, but I was finally able to go back and watch the Bob Habersat webinar for #UFMUE! That was incredible!!!
So many amazing ideas to engage the 'other 80%' of our students. Definitely developing that #TPACK
Amazed at the accessibility of Noteflight and MuseScore. Noteflight seemed simpler, but I think after I really figure out MuseScore - I will be able to input notes so much faster. Super excited to introduce these programs to my students! #UFMUE
I was looking ahead a bit at the #UFMUE assignments, and saw the discussion on BandLab. Decided to check it out, and holy cow!!!
If you are not familiar with it, you have to check it out. It's a fully online DAW that has a sort of social media component. Incredible!
@JoannaMarieNOLA Hey Joanna! I love Google Slides... and Google Classroom in general. My district has adopted the Microsoft platform so we are using PowerPoint to create our classrooms, and TEAMS to share with students. For me, the jury is still out with TEAMS - big learning curve.
A ton of teachers in my district are creating a #BitmojiClassroom. It seems like a great way for students to navigate course material virtually! Does anyone in the #UFMUE program have experience with Bitmoji learning?
@whaleyalyssa1 That's awesome! I have demo'd my classroom with a few kids, and they seem to really enjoy it. I suppose it at least gives them a small sense of normalcy during these tough times!
